Academic Programs in Science and Technology

Each program includes hands-on laboratory components, weekly assessments, and a capstone project evaluated by industry mentors.

Robotics Engineering

Students build autonomous robots using Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms while learning mechanical design, sensor integration, and PID control theory. The course covers kinematics, actuator selection, and real-time programming for competitive robotics.

Grades 6-12 36 weeks Lab required

Biological Sciences

Cell biology, genetics, ecology, and human anatomy courses with virtual dissection labs and microscopy training. Includes AP Biology preparation modules covering cellular processes, heredity, evolution, and ecological interactions across biomes.

Grades 8-12 32 weeks AP aligned

Computer Science Fundamentals

From block-based coding to Python and JavaScript development. Students progress through algorithms, data structures, web development, and database management. Covers computational thinking, debugging methodology, and version control systems.

Grades 3-12 40 weeks Project-based

Physics and Physical Science

Mechanics, thermodynamics, waves, electromagnetism, and modern physics. Lab sections use motion sensors, force plates, and spectroscopy equipment. AP Physics C preparation with calculus-based problem sets and free-response practice.

Grades 9-12 36 weeks Calculus-based

Applied Mathematics

Pre-algebra through multivariable calculus with applied problem sets drawn from engineering, finance, and data science. Includes statistics, probability theory, linear algebra, and differential equations for advanced students.

Grades 5-12 40 weeks Adaptive pacing

Environmental Engineering

Water quality analysis, renewable energy systems, waste management, and sustainability design. Field work includes soil sampling, watershed mapping, and solar panel efficiency testing. Students complete an environmental impact assessment as their capstone.

Grades 7-12 28 weeks Field work

How Our Curriculum Works

Every Meridian course follows a four-phase instructional model. Students move from foundational concepts through guided practice to independent application, finishing with a peer-reviewed capstone.

  1. 1

    Diagnostic Assessment

Placement tests in mathematics, reading comprehension, and scientific reasoning determine the appropriate entry point for each student.

  2. 2

    Concept Instruction

Video lectures, annotated readings, and interactive simulations introduce core principles. Spaced retrieval quizzes reinforce retention over 72-hour intervals.

  3. 3

    Lab and Practice

Guided experiments, coding exercises, and problem sets apply theory to practical scenarios. Students submit work through our grading portal for instructor feedback within 48 hours.

  4. 4

    Capstone Project

Each course concludes with a multi-week project: designing a robot, publishing a research paper, building an application, or presenting experimental findings to a review panel.

What Families Are Saying

Feedback from parents and students currently enrolled in our STEM programs.

"My daughter went from struggling with algebraic expressions to placing second in her regional math olympiad after two semesters in the Applied Mathematics track. The diagnostic placement test put her at exactly the right level."
David Hernandez
Parent of 8th grader, Buffalo NY
"The robotics engineering course taught me PID control loops and how to wire motor controllers. I used those skills to build an autonomous line-following robot for the FIRST Tech Challenge qualifier in Rochester."
Alyssa Mitchell
11th grade student, enrolled since 2023
"As a homeschool parent, finding rigorous lab science was difficult. Meridian's biology course includes virtual dissections and actual microscopy sessions through their partner labs. The AP prep material was thorough."
Rachel Patterson
Homeschool parent, 2 children enrolled
"I took the computer science fundamentals course starting in 7th grade. By 9th grade I could build full-stack web applications and had a working knowledge of SQL databases. The project-based approach keeps you engaged."
James Kowalski
10th grade student, 3 courses completed
